The Stafford Gatehouse Theatre was filled with cheers, tears and applause this week as a group of ordinary locals ended six months of rehearsals by performing for three nights to sold-out audiences, raising much needed funds for local charities.
The 2-hour variety show was a heady mix of music, dance and comedy as well as moving videos showcasing the work of three local charities, all capped off with a ladies and then gentlemens routine inspired by the ‘Celebrity Real Full Monty’ shows broadcast on ITV television.
Show Producer, Richard Tomkinson explained: “When bringing the show back after our first in 2019, we knew that it was important to support local small charities that rarely get the spotlight but that do so much vital work in the region. When I met Rachael in 2023 I knew right away that CCPA had to be one of the groups we’d support but I had one condition: Rachael HAD to dance in the ladies finale!”
Like all the performers, who were drawn from the local area, The CCPA CEO embraced the challenge and stepped out of her comfort zone and dared to bare (almost) all in a night filled with magical performances as well as moving stories of triumph from each of the local charities.
Speaking after the final night of the show, Rachael said: “I feel so privileged to have been part of such an amazing and unforgettable experience. Not only have I had the chance to perform on stage, but I have made new friends through our long months of rehearsals. The show has given CCPA a platform to share our work with almost 2 thousand audience members who now know about our vital services.
In addition to CCPA, the funds raised were shared with A Child of Mine and the Stafford branch of The Samaritans.
